This week in Class 1 we have continued to learn about the features of instructions and we are looking forward to writing our own set of instruction next week. In Maths we have enjoyed using different apparatus to represent numbers and we are becoming experts at ordering numbers!

This week, we began our Design Technology cooking lessons, and half of the class made pizza and fruit jelly, which involved chopping and mixing. The other half of the class enjoyed painting houses from the time of the Great Fire of London, and we learned how to mix our own powder paints. The groups will swap around next week so that we all get a go.

This week we took home our Homework books and we are very impressed with the work that has come back in, so well done!

We are also excited to see that the potatoes in Class 1’s garden are ready for digging, and a few of the tomatoes are red. Yummy!

It’s been another busy week in Class 1. We have started our new Literacy topic which is based on instructional texts. This included reading instructions for a teddy bear’s picnic and then following those instructions to hold our own picnic, Yum! The children have also shown a huge interest in our History learning based on The Great Fire of London. It is such a fascinating event and the children are keen to find out more. Here are a few pictures from our picnic.

What an exciting start Class 1 have had to the year. They have really enjoyed visiting church and playing in the playground with all of the older children. We have been so impressed with how the children have settled into the new routines and all of the children have produced some fabulous Literacy and Maths work. We’ve had a wonderful first week.
