Two representatives are elected by each class, each year, following candidate speeches just like a real election. The elected members then have the job of representing the views of their classmates at fortnightly meetings. A Year 5 or Year 6 child is elected as Chairperson. It is the Chair’s job is to run the meetings and make sure every member has a say. During the meetings the council discuss any issues which have been bought to their attention as well as getting involved in issues which affect the whole school. During previous years the council has introduced ties for Juniors, raised funds for SOS Lifeboat, run an assembly on traffic calming measures, helped decide which Trim Trail apparatus should be purchased and organised charity events such as Children In Need, Sport & Comic Relief.
The school council is helped and guided by a Teaching member of staff.
