Year 6 Letters

In Year 6, children are encouraged to be responsible and engaged learners.  Expectations of behaviour and effort are high as the children are the oldest pupils in school, setting a positive example to their younger peers.  The Year 6 children lead a number of activities in school (such as our school tuck shop, assemblies, accompanying visitors and leading School Council meetings).

During the school year, the children learn through three country or continent based topics (one per term).  This year (2018-19), is as follows: Autumn Term - Australia; Spring Term - Antarctica; Summer Term - South Africa.  The curriculum maps for these themes can be found in the web links.

Homework is set daily and consists of reading and there are usually daily set tasks.  These activities enable the learning to continue, consolidating what has taken place in the school day.
