Visiting church for the first time

Ducklings Class were very excited to go to the church for our Harvest Festival. We enjoyed learning "Dingle Dangle Scarecrow" and performing it with Robins Class.  he children had found out about harvest before we went to church.

The chicks continue to grow and it has been interesting for the children seeing how they change. They have noticed that they poo a lot! We created a run so they had more space to move around which the chicks seemed to enjoy.

Our maths learning has focused on patterns which the children have made in many ways, for example, on bead strings or by building lego towers. We have noticed patterns in the environment too.

We have enjoyed the story "The Little Red Hen". After sharing the story, the children retold it wearing masks taking on the parts of different characters which was great fun.

Another busy, fun-filled week!

Ducklings class have really enjoyed having the chicks in our classroom.

It has been amazing to watch them hatch, grow and then to be able to hold them. We have them for another week so next week we will make a run for them so they have more space.

In our maths learning we have been comparing size, weight and capacity in different ways. The children have shown good levels of understanding and have enjoyed the activities.

We continue to learn new sounds in our phonics lessons and we are using those sounds well to attempt to read words.

Next week the children will get their first reading book which is very exciting!

The fabulous Ducklings class continue to do some amazing learning.

This week we have looked at our senses.

The children completed a sound walk around the school, used feely bags to explore the sense of touch and enjoyed a taste test!

In phonics, the children are learning new sounds and starting to read words which contain the sounds.

They are also trying really hard to write the letters using the formation rhymes to help.

Another busy, fun week!

Ducklings class have completed their first phonics lessons this week. They have looked at the sounds s, t, a and p. They have identified words which begin with each sound and also tried hard to write the letters.

We have begun our maths unit on matching and sorting and the children have completed the activities brilliantly.

The children explored a variety of equipment in our PE session and continued to enjoy all of the different activities in the classroom.

Wow! What a wonderful start the children in Ducklings Class have had.

In their first three days of school they have enjoyed so many activities including painting, using the role play area, playing in the mud kitchen and the sand pit and building some wonderful creations.

They have shared beautifully with each other and have started to develop friendships.

The pictures are just a small snapshot of what they have been up to!
